Itinerary
Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, where our local representative will welcome you and provide a private hotel transfer. In the evening, you take a stroll along Baku Seaside Boulevard, explore Nizami Street (Fountain Square), and head to Highland Park via funicular for a panoramic view of the illuminated Flame Towers and the Caspian Sea coastline.
Explore the medieval walled town of Icherisheher (Old City), including the 12th-century Maiden Tower and the grand Shirvanshahs' Palace.Visit the famous Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by architect Zaha Hadid (photo stop and museum walk). Then, you continue to the unique Azerbaijan Carpet Museum on the waterfront.
Drive south to Gobustan National Park to view ancient prehistoric rock petroglyphs and experience the bizarre bubbling Mud Volcanoes.Visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple, an ancient place of worship built over natural gas vents, followed by Yanar Dag (Burning Mountain), where natural gas has burned continuously for centuries.
Depart early for a day trip to Gabala, a scenic mountain region in the Greater Caucasus. Visit the tranquil Nohur Lake surrounded by forests, and ride the cable car at Tufandag Mountain Resort for high-altitude mountain views. On the return trip to Baku, you stop by the historic Juma Mosque in Shamakhi.
