Itinerary

You depart Kathmandu in the morning via a scenic drive along the BP Highway (or a short 25-minute domestic flight). Crossing the rolling hills and river valleys of Sindhuli, you will descend into the Terai plains and reach Janakpur by early afternoon. Check into your hotel and relax before enjoying an evening stroll around Ganga Sagar pond to witness the daily evening Aarti .

You begin your day visiting the grand Janaki Temple, admiring its intricate Hindu-Rajput architecture and marble craftsmanship. Next, you visit the nearby Ram Sita Vivah Mandap, Dhanush Sagar, and local Mithila art centers to see traditional women painters at work. In the afternoon, take a short excursion to Dhanusadham, a historical forest site associated with the broken piece of Shiva’s bow from the Ramayana. Return to Janakpur for an evening tasting local sweets like Lassi and Thekua.
